These mistakes can increase your pre-competition jitters and anxiety and it can definitely compromise your performance, trust me I have been there before ☺. 5th AZ Open of BJJ Special Show

Gustavo Dantas recaps the first BJJ tournament in Arizona history to break five hundred competitors, the 5th AZ Open on March 2010. This video talks about Gustavo’s background, the evolution of Arizona Jiu-Jitsu and tournament highlights. This tournament featured many of jiu-jitsu greats including Robson Moura, Kron Gracie and as well as  former WEC light weight champion Ben Henderson. This 30 minutes show was featured in April 2010 on Cox Cable Channel 7 , which can reach 929,186 Households in Phoenix and Tucson. The show was divided in three youtube videos. Check it out.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say Mackenzie Dern is another pretty face among the gentle art’s ladies. However, it would be wise to take into account the old saying “He who sees the face, doesn’t see the heart.” Behind her fair appearance, there’s an aggressive fighter, a promising athlete of the new generation.

Like father, like daughter. Mackenzie’s father is black belt Wellington Megaton, winner of the last five installments of the International Master and Senior tournament. By her doting father’s side, the fighter travels the world training, competing and winning. After winning the 2010 Worlds, she made her purple belt debut in grand style at the Rio Open.

New Weigh-In Policies and Procedures for the Kids Division (4-15 yrs):

This year, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), the World’s leader and authority on BJJ, promoted their very first Kids Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the US, the 2010 Pan Kids Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Since the AZSBJJF base its tournaments on their guidelines, the AZSBJJF has decided to adopt their policy and procedure for Kids competitors that don’t make weight, are registered in the wrong division, or have no matches in their registered bracket. Broadnax Brothers in Action

I’m not sure what is more amazing the fact that the 16 year old Broadnax twins (Christian and Christopher) completely dismantled their division and faced off in the final at the 1st Southwest Brazilian Jiu – Jitsu Classic in October or that they predicted it would happen.  Either way the talent possessed by this dynamic duo is undeniable.
