Gi Drive at 6th AZ Open

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The 6th Arizona International Open of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is pleased to announce that it will be joining with the Arizona based non-profit organization Live Jiu-Jitsu. Founded by AZSBJJF Vice-President, Gustavo Dantas, this organization aims to help children and young adults begin their training in the sport by providing Gi’s (Kimonos) to those who cannot afford them otherwise. Live JJ is currently supporting community projects such as Morro Azul and Morro Santo Amaro, taught by Nova Uniao Black Belts, Fabiano “Babu” Freitas and Marlon Sandro. The non-profit organization also helped to get new mats for the students to practice at the Morro Azul Project.

Live Jiu-Jitsu is aiming to collect 100 Gi’s by the summer. They will be collecting Gi’s on both Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the 6th AZ Open. Additionally, On The Mat (OTM) Fight Shop has been gracious enough to assist Live Jiu-Jitsu in this Gi-Drive. They will be offering a 15% discount for any new OTM Gi, to those who donate their old one (good condition). The reason to donate to a great cause just got better!
